Imbros Gorge & Frangokastello in Chania, Crete

Imbros Gorge

Imbros Gorge is the second most popular gorge for hikers in Chania, Crete. It is much easier to cross it compared to the Samaria Gorge. Additionally, it is almost 8km long and the average walking time is estimated to about 2.5 hours.

The path into the gorge starts just below the village of Imbros. After around 90 minutes’ walk from the gorge’s entrance, you will pass an impressive stone arch on your right. The path then widens quite a lot compared to its prior narrow crossing. Soon, you will get on the road and the village of Komitades, where you'll find us to continue our tour.

Next stop…. Frangokastello!!

Frangokastello is a small seaside village, located in the south part of Chania, Crete. Famous for its Venetian castle that shares the same name, Frangokastello is a popular destination all year around. The castle is still preserved in a great condition. Furthermore, it is set right in front of a lovely beach with very shallow waters, ideal for children.
