Moving on, we will drive to a pottery workshop. There we will start our excursion from the village of Margarites, famous for its ceramic tradition. In this workshop, we receive visitors from all over the world who get to know the Cretan Ceramic Art and observe how we make the pots on the wheel, how we decorate them, and how they are baked in the oven in order to reach their final form. We will be very happy to show you the process of our work, to show you the modern tools we use but also the tools of our grandparents, and if you wish you can attempt to create your own works with our help, without additional cost.
Our next destination is the Arkadi Monastery, which contains one of the finest Venetian churches on Crete. The tragic events that took place here in 1866 made it a national symbol of Crete’s heroic struggle for independence. Thus, the Arkadi Monastery is an important part of Greek history.
Our last stop will be at the city of Rethymno, where you can explore one of the most well-preserved old towns in Greece. The city combines rarely united features: the old town's charm and history, with a long sandy beach, which is within proximity.
